                                     Walk, Run, Ride for BHCFL!

Our Four Programs

THE LENDING LIBRARY provides educational materials, books, videos, curriculum kits, and computers that families can borrow and return when they are done. Please donate to this program so that we can update our computers to meet the needs of our students, continue to supply them with the software necessary for homework success, and to help us expand our library to include more materials and technological items for our homeschooling families that need them.

THE GRADUATION/AWARDS CEREMONY is an annual event where we celebrate student achievements that have been accomplished throughout the year. Parents are able to present awards at that time to their children, and Black Homeschoolers of Central Florida, Inc. recognizes each child with a gift. Families join together with food and fellowship. An all ages Kings and Queens dance is held afterwards to celebrate. Please donate to this program to help us supply each child with a gift, help us feed our families with food and cake, and help us buy decorations and the ability to supply the venue for this event.

GUESTS/CLASSES/FIELD TRIPS. With this program, we pinpoint what career fields the students are interested in and we center our Guest Speakers, field trips and classes around those things and introduce them to much more. This program provides great opportunities for learning and gives incentive and encouragement to the children to help them in their educational quest.

This program has been expanded to now include a Tutoring and College Preparatory Program which includes a year- long K-12th personalized tutoring and college preparatory program that closes the achievement gap for underserved and minority homeschool communities. Our program objectives are to increase academic, college and career access and

readiness, improve self-confidence, and increase test scores among students. This program will target students from our homeschooling community who are either minority, struggling academically, or have a learning disability (ADHD or on the Autism Spectrum) and don’t have the monetary means to get the help that they so desperately need. We are seeking funding to support this program in an effort to ensure that our students are able to compete amongst their peers

and at completion of the program, that they have made progress in their studies, and for those receiving coaching, that they are college and career ready. Our College Preparatory Program focuses on college and career readiness, including career exploration, exposing students to dual enrollment programs, familiarizing them with FAFSA, the college application process, and ways and practices to be successful in post-secondary institutions.

This is one of our largest and most expensive programs to date. Your donation is desperately needed for us to continue serving our children and helping them on the road to success! Please donate to this program so we can help as many children as we can!

COMMUNITY SERVICE. The purpose of this program is to teach our children how to give back to their communities in service to others. We have several projects that we participate in annually. Light the Night for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lions Club Recycle for Sight, having a community Food Drive and donating to a local food pantry, wrapping gifts for the elderly at a community nursing home and a clothing drive at our Meet and Greet. We have also prepared and given out necessity bags & gifts for the homeless. For the past few years the nursing home has not had enough gifts for each of their residents. We would like to make sure that while we are wrapping gifts for the elderly, that no one is left out.

Please donate to this program so that we can continue to provide supplies and gifts to those in our community that need it the most.
