1). What does a volunteer at BHCFL do?
A. BHCFL volunteers help in whatever capacity they can to help us fulfill our mission and achieve our goals. From educating our youth in a particular academic or arts class; tutoring them in math, science, reading, and language arts; to behind the scenes office administration and event coordination.
2). How do I stay informed of upcoming BHCFL events?
A. Keeping up with our calendar, website and social media posts is the best way to stay aware of what we have going on. You can always call us as well.
3). Am I able to run a BHCFL fundraiser?
A. Of course! You can start your own Facebook fundraiser for Black Homeschoolers of Central Florida, Inc. Just find our non-profit on the Facebook non-profit list and start fundraising. Fundraising is a perfect way to give of your time, talent, and resources. Whatever you accomplish in this effort is greatly appreciated.
4). What standards are required of all volunteers?
A. Our BHCFL Village of children and families are first and foremost. That means that we expect appropriate and respectful conduct from all of our volunteers.
~The following standards are expected from all of our volunteers:
* No drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, firearms, cursing, or sexual misconduct.
* Please dress for the occasion and dress modestly; no belly out clothing, etc.
* Dress for BHCFL Events in your BHCFL shirt so that everyone knows that you are a part of our team.
5). Are there any fees associated with volunteering?
A. In order to defray our costs for volunteer shirts, we ask you to buy your shirt: either $10 for a T-shirt, or $15 for a polo. Otherwise, your cost to volunteer is only your time, transportation, and any costs or donations you’d like to personally offer.
6). Can high school students earn service hours at BHCFL for Florida Bright Futures? What about any other community service required hours for school, college, or pleasure? Do you have internships?
A. Absolutely! As a non-profit organization, BHCFL qualifies as an opportunity to earn service hours for the Florida Bright Futures. High school students interested in receiving service hours for their work at BHCFL should provide documentation from their school for a BHCFL representative to sign after completing their hours. College Internships with BHCFL is a wonderful way to gain real world experience working in the community. Email us for more information.
