Rasheeda Denning, a homeschooling mom since 1998, created Black Homeschoolers of Central Florida, Inc. in 2009 because her family was tired of the lack of diversity, lack of support, and isolation they felt within the homeschooling community. "Our family's experience became the catalyst for me to create a safe space for Black families to connect, build friendships, learn and grow together. I was very intentional with naming our organization, in hopes that families would find us. In this beautiful space, families have found support, motivation, and comfort in sharing experiences unique to the Black community and the education of Black children. A Village has been formed, and I am forever grateful to see our children flourishing in an environment where their culture and history is celebrated and explored. It has been my passion to use our platform to bring homeschooling awareness to parents as a legal and viable option to educating their children."

"The ease of starting a homeschool does not always translate into the ease of running and/or maintaining a homeschool.
As a Certified Parent Educator, I can help you tap into your inner "Child Development Specialist" to keep your child's natural thirst for knowledge & discovery alive. As a Veteran Homeschooling Parent, I can help you tap into your inner "Teacher" to create a child-
centered environment conducive to learning. As a Pediatric Nurse, I can help you tap into your inner "Child Advocate" to follow-up on health concerns that could make learning difficult for your child & get the services they need.
